Guide
The best coffeeshops in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam has well over a hundred coffeeshops. Nobody needs a hundred opinions. Here are ours: one pick per question, the way Mister Haze would tell a friend.
Updated October 2026
The best coffeeshop depends on what you came for. A first-timer wants a menu that makes sense. Someone who knows their strains wants the right names on the shelf. A local wants the shop around the corner. So there is no single winner here. There are picks, each for its own reason.
How Mister Haze picks
- The menu. We read the menus: how much variety there is, whether it is in balance, and whether the prices are fair. A big menu is not a good menu.
- The visitors. We read what people say, in our own words, and we weigh it.
- The shop. What we know of the place ourselves, and what we hear from people who know it better.
- Nobody pays. No shop buys a pick or a place in the guide. A pick can change when a menu does.

Good to know
What is the best coffeeshop in Amsterdam?+−
There is no single best one, because it depends on what you came for. That is why we pick per question: the best menu, the best extracts, the best imported hash, a good local shop in each part of town, and places to smoke with a drink or a bite. If you are new to this, start with the shops under Best menu.
How does Mister Haze choose the picks?+−
From what the menus show (variety, balance and fair prices), what visitors say, and what we know of the shops ourselves. A pick is an opinion, not a score. Nobody pays for a place on this page, and a pick can change when a menu does.
Does a shop pay to be a top pick?+−
No. No shop pays for a place in the guide, for a pick or for anything else.
What should I know before I go to a coffeeshop?+−
You need to be 18 or older and bring ID. Start low and go slow, especially with edibles. Our Explains section covers etiquette, how to read a menu and how to dose.
