Geraniol: what it smells like and where else you find it.
By Mister Haze. Published .
What is geraniol?
Geraniol is a terpene, one of the aromatic compounds plants make. It smells like this: rose-like: sweet, floral, fruity and waxy with a citrus edge. Cannabis is one of the plants that makes it.
Where else you meet it
The main component of citronella oil and of rose and palmarosa oils, with smaller amounts in geranium and lemon.
The name
It was named after an Indian 'geranium grass' oil, a cheaper substitute for geranium flower essence.
What it is used for
Perfumery, food and as a mosquito repellent.
In a coffeeshop
How much of it a jar has depends on the plant, how it was grown, dried and cured, and how long the jar has been open. We do not promise anything about what it does for you. We can show you the strains whose write-ups describe this smell.
